Hey friends! Welcome to our Food Blog Income Report April 2016. We made $155.15 this month! Whooo! If you read last month’s report you’ll notice that even though we had more views this month than we had last month, we made a little less money. Reason being is that when it comes to CPM’s (amount paid per 1000 ad impressions) – things can get a bit fickle. Meaning – some months they are high and some months they are low. In April our average CPM was lower than it was in March.
What really matters to us though, is views. We want to grow a blog with a big reach – what we earn from it is secondary, the cherry on top of the cake if you want to look at it that way. As long as we see growth in views we are more than happy! Yay!
Where did the views come from?
Our biggest achievement this month was turning the downward trend of last month back upwards and keeping the traffic steady – even though we didn’t post or update at all during the last week. (We were too busy eloping in Asheville, NC). There was even some growth in traffic, which is the most exciting part! Our social media channels also growed as well as always leaving us with almost 5000 followers across the board now! Yay 😀
When we started this blog in July 2015, there was a few ups and downs, but starting from December we’ve seen a dramatic upward trend and we can’t wait to see how long this continues. The growth is definitely thanks to our Pinterest profile picking up speed in January and it’s been keeping strong since. (TIP: a good way to start getting Pinterest traffic is to join group boards!). Now that the Pinterest ball is rolling though, we are trying to improve our SEO and get more organic traffic. It’s wise as a blogger to grow your traffic from as many different sources as possible, since the internet is such a fast changing world and you never know when something could change and take a big chunk of your traffic away. It’s as scary as it is exciting.
Next month we’ll also miss out on a whole week of new content (because of our elopement during the last week of April and first week of May), but we’re still pretty positive about seeing even more growth in traffic. Our goals for include working on site optimization (we need to get things to load quicker for you!), SEO and working on updating all our recipes to include both the imperial and metric measuring systems! Make it easy for everyone to follow the recipes!
As always…leave any specific blogging/blog growth/traffic questions in the comments below!
Until next month! 😀
