Prevent your screen from going dark
Heat the grill to medium-high (375-400°F) and lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
In a large bowl, toss the whole mushrooms with BBQ sauce and olive oil, making sure they are evenly coated.
Thread the mushrooms onto metal or soaked wooden skewers, leaving a little space between each for even cooking.
Place the skewers on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, turning once, until the mushrooms are tender and slightly charred.
Remove from the grill and brush with extra BBQ sauce, if desired. Serve hot as a side dish or as a topping for burgers, salads, or grain bowls.

Notes
Use sturdy mushrooms:
Whole or halved mushrooms work best on the grill because they hold their shape and don’t dry out quickly.
Don’t overcrowd the skewers:
Leave a little space between mushrooms so they cook evenly and develop light char.
Oil the grates well:
Lightly oiling the grill grates or grill pan helps prevent sticking, especially with BBQ sauce.
Watch closely near the end:
BBQ sauce can caramelize quickly, so keep an eye on the mushrooms during the final minutes to avoid burning.
