Eating whole presents a host of challenges when it comes to sweet cravings. And while we would all prefer if we could manage our life without these evil sweet cravings, it unfortunately is an unavoidable part of life.
If you were one of those lucky few born with iron-strong willpower, able to resist any and every sugar-laden treat you’re bombarded with – first of all, congrats! And second, how??? Please teach us your mightly sugar-resisting ways!
For the rest of us mere mortals, it definitely sucks, because if it wasn’t for our collective sugar-addiction as a species, even the occasional piece of fruit would be considered a massive treat! Ouch!
But alas, we are all just trying here. We can’t always be the best, but we can always do our best. We do our best to eat a healthy diet, but it isn’t the end of the world if you stumble occasionally.
It is what it is, and temptations are around every corner waiting to pounce. BUT, if you’re just a little resistant, you can eat BETTER sweetness, with much less guilt. One example of that is our Zesty Cinnamon Apples. Yup, these babies are a pretty healthy-ish way to get that sugar monkey off your back.
A Granny Smith Apple, peeled and cut into slices, cooked with butter, honey and fragrant cinnamon. Mmmmmm. Yep. That’ll definitely do the trick. Served with a bit of plain whipped cream. Oh yeah!
We’ve been thinking a lot about “healthy” desserts lately, because of our son Bo. With a great-grandfather extremely excited to feed the little man ice cream, we’re just trying to have an arsenal of good alternatives ready when we need to intervene some ice-cream feeding!
Some of our options so far:
- Apple Raspberry Popsicles
- Cinnamon Apple Almond Crumble
- Low-Carb No-Bake Lemon Cheesecake with Pecan Nut Crumble
