A collection of easy and healthy Air Fryer Recipes made with fresh, whole ingredients. Gluten-Free. Keto. Low-Carb. Paleo.

A recent trend in the cooking community is the Air Fryer. A countertop contraption that promises faster and healthier cooking.

What Is An Air Fryer and How Does It Work?

Basically, an air fryer is a countertop convection oven that can give your food a fried or deep-fried flavor without actual frying or deep-frying in oil. It’s a healthier way to prepare certain foods, while maintaining the flavor that comes with frying.

It works by circulating hot hair at a high speed with a mechanical fan. This rapidly dries out the outer layer of the food, causing reactions that create the delicious “browning” or caramelization layer typically achieved by submersing food in hot oil.

    Is Air Fried Food Healthy?

Typically yes. Cooking food in an air fryer typically creates a healthier final product, because there is less (or no) added oil involved. This is great for lowering the overall calories of a meal, if you’re cooking for weight-loss.

But of course, it all depends on the kind of food you’re talking about. If you’re eating air fried donuts everyday, it is still an unhealthy choice whether it is fried or air fried.

Healthline.com has a great article explaining the good and the bad about whether air fried foods are healthier than their deep-fried alternative.
